BMS World Mission

English teacher needed

The Light of the World church in Shkoze on the outskirts of Tirana has been running an English course for the past few years.  They now have 80 students coming to a variety of classes at the church.

Courses run for a range of abilities from beginners to advanced and also for children and adults.  This is a great outreach opportunity and will also meet the needs of the local community.  English is often needed to secure a job in Albania.  The course has been developed and run by BMS worker Helen Brook for the past two years.  Helen has developed the curriculum and completed a range of resources. She has also trained a language assistant to work alongside her.

However, Helen and her husband Tim will be finishing their time in Albania in 2009.  We have an urgent need for someone to continue this valuable work from September 2009. If you’re a teacher, or who have been involved in teaching at a youth group or Sunday school, you could be the person we’re looking for.

It would be so disappointing to see the English school come to an end when the Brooks leave Albania in 2009.  It provides a real service to the community and provides a significant bridge for the local people into the church.
