BMS World Mission

Avril Fanner

Avril Fanner
Avril has been a Christian since her teenage years and was baptised and later married at Tonbridge Baptist Church where she and her husband, Mike, are still members.

Avril considers the education of all children from every background to be of the utmost importance. She worked first as a classroom teacher and then as a county adviser, later becoming a consultant and Ofsted inspector.

Using these skills the Lord guided and led her to work overseas with BMS and Oasis. She says, “I helped to develop BMS-led mission schools in Nepal (KISC) and Albania (GDQ). In Brazil, Paraguay and Ecuador, I worked with and led training courses for teachers in the PEPEs with Georgie and Stuart Christine.

“For ten consecutive years I have visited India, working in Mumbai and Bangalore with Oasis. In Bangalore I helped to develop a slum school by training the teachers, writing and setting up the curriculum. Now over 600 children attend each day.”

Currently Avril is a governor in a local school and chair of two committees, School Curriculum and Finance, Staffing and Pay. She and her husband have three children and delight in their eight grandchildren.
