Protest is not the sole province of violent anarchists at G8 summits.

At least, it shouldn't be.

Christians should be a constant presence at demonstrations that call for justice, right relationships with creation and the global poor or protection for the world's most vulnerable.

We should be there, not only because we have a duty to do all we can (including speaking out prophetically) to work for God's justice in this world, but to model loving, righteous and Christ-witnessing approaches to the tradition of 'speaking truth to power'.

In this section of the BMS Campaigns Channel, we highlight some of the campaigns we're concerned with and invite you to join in activities, events, petitions, marches and other forms of peaceful demonstration.

These are simple but effective ways of joining with others, raising your voice and exercising your democratic rights and Christian duties on behalf of those without influence, voice or hope.

"We need to be encouraging our leaders, giving them the permission to make some bold and courageous decisions and show them that we are behind them.

Creation care

Climate change can not be fought by changing a few light-bulbs. The whole of our society (including government and business) need to be involved, and some of them need a bit of a push. Begin nudging here.

Poverty

Extreme global poverty could already be history. It's not. Join with others taking up the call of the Prophet Micah to do justly, love mercy and walk humbly with God, here.
